As for other information about the Australian Stock Horse in Canada,

Maryanne Gough is leaving for Melbourne today with the horses already

Arriving in Melbourne awaiting their 18hr flight. All will departing Sunday

For LA and arriving at our house on March 27th or 28th. Really looking

Forward to meeting all of the horses and visiting with Maryanne again.

Hello Everyone,

Yes...We are Tough, Rugged Albertans, or so it says " trudging the road "......I don t remember anything about carrying a shovel!!!!!! Smile ! Yes the weather has not been co-operative at all. We have had a weather delay with the horses crossing the boarder into Canada. The winter storm is in Idaho and Montana and is effecting the Equine Transport Hauler that has departed to California to pick up the horses. It has been delayed as she is travelling with livestock already on board so doesn't want to put them at risk. If she was empty she would be fine to continue. So we wait. In addition we are unable to get a vet to pass the horses at the CAN/US boarder on the weekend so would have to wait till Monday anyhow.

Quite the epic journey for these ponies. Believe we have made the right choice to lay them over in California. Allowing them to stretch their legs some as they have been stalled now for a little over 4 days. Too long for any horse really. So they are now in paddocks with some grass to pick at, and sound happy to be trotting about. Mary Anne also seems to be enjoying her stay and getting to see a bit of the area so all is well. Horses and Owners happy!!

Looks like the horses will arrive here on ASH Monday March 30. March madness continues - lets bring on some spring weather. Hip Hip!.

Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat , nor gloom of night stayed could prevent our courageous couriers from the completion of their delivery" Perhaps Mary Anne didn't recognize the oath of Herodotus or the postal service before but I think she can relate to it now after travelling from her home in Lowood, Australia to Calgary, Canada with the ASH stock. What began as a scheduled eight day trip turned into 14 days of Airline flight and road condition delays. Most notable were the ongoing 'Road Condition Snow Fall Warnings' being issued while travelling on the I-15 through the Rocky Mountain passes in Montana and Idaho causing the volume of delays experienced during their road trip to their new home in Canada. Yes, Spring in the Rockies can be very unpredictable.

All arrived safely in the dark of the night March 31 at 11PM with the start of another snow storm. The horses took all of the events of their trip in stride and remaining healthy and sensible during their long haul from Australia to their new home in Canada.
